Terms of Service

Welcome to Chortle! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Chortle's chore management platform. By using Chortle, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree to these Terms, please don't use Chortle.

Chortle is a chore management platform designed for families. Our service allows:

• Managers to create teams, define chores, and assign tasks to family members
• Members to view assigned chores and track their completion
• Automated scheduling with flexible, daily, and weekly recurrence patterns
• Email notifications to keep everyone informed

Manager Accounts

To create a Manager account, you must be at least 18 years old. You agree to:

• Provide accurate and complete registration information
• Maintain the security of your account credentials
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access to your account
• Be responsible for all activities that occur under your account

Member Accounts

Member accounts can be created by Managers for family members of any age. Parents or legal guardians are responsible for their children's use of the service and must supervise minors' access.

You agree to use Chortle only for lawful purposes. You will not:

• Use the service to harass, abuse, or harm others
• Upload malicious code, viruses, or harmful content
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' accounts
• Use the service for any illegal activity
• Violate any applicable laws or regulations
• Impersonate others or provide false information

Chortle offers both free trials and paid subscription plans. By subscribing, you agree to:

• Pay all fees associated with your subscription
• Provide accurate billing information
• Allow us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel

You may cancel your subscription at any time. Refunds are not provided for partial billing periods except as required by law.

Your privacy is important to us. Our collection and use of your data is governed by our Privacy Policy. By using Chortle, you consent to our data practices as described in the Privacy Policy.

Chortle and all related content, features, and functionality are owned by us and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on our service without our express permission.

You retain ownership of the content you create using Chortle (chore titles, descriptions, etc.). You grant us a license to use this content solely to provide and improve the service.

Chortle is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that:

• The service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
• The service will meet your specific requirements
• Any defects will be corrected
• Your data will never be lost (though we take reasonable measures to protect it)

You are responsible for maintaining your own backups of any critical data.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Chortle and its affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses.

Our total liability to you for all claims arising from or relating to the service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or $100, whichever is greater.

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us or using the account deletion features in the app. We may suspend or terminate your access to Chortle if:

• You violate these Terms
• You fail to pay any fees when due
• We believe your actions may cause legal liability or harm to others
• We decide to discontinue the service

Upon termination, your right to use the service will immediately cease. We may delete your data in accordance with our retention policies.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We will notify you of material changes by email or through the service. Your continued use of Chortle after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

These Terms will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of Chortle will be resolved in the appropriate courts.
